Bill Burr Disagrees With Disney Firing Gina Carano

SUGGESTED NEWS

The Mandalorian star Bill Burr disagrees with Disney’s decision to fire Gina Carano.

Last year, Disney fired Gina Carano from the hit Star Wars series The Mandalorian due to her controversial presence on social media, particularly after she shared a few posts deemed anti-Semitic along with those that questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 U.S. Presidential election. Sometime after her firing, her co-star Bill Burr opened up about her being ousted from Lucasfilm, to which he expressed that he had a good time working with her.

Now, Bill Burr has taken the opportunity to share his thoughts on Gina Carano‘s firing from Disney once again. This time, he further expresses his disagreement with the decision, seeing it as nothing but political theatre that he feels may have had unintended consequences in the ousted actress’ favor.

Here’s what Bill Burr told THR:

“I thought it was funny that the liberals proved her point. They just use outrage because they don’t like your politics. As someone who considers himself liberal, it’s disappointing to see the left become how the right used to be when they went after the Dixie Chicks after they criticized George W. Bush. There’s not a lot of people like that — most are just trying not to get in trouble — but there’s this small collection of lunatics — either on the right or the left, at any given moment – that cause hysteria. And now there’s so many [media outlets] that want eyeballs, they make money off advertising, that they give attention to these crazy fringe people.

The whole thing with Gina: You can’t chime in when the shit’s happening, because then you cause static for other people on the [show]. That somebody’s opinion — or their political beliefs — makes people try to destroy their ability to make a living, it’s fucking bizarre to me.”

Following her ouster from The Mandalorian, Gina Carano signed on with conservative media company The Daily Wire for their own film projects. As of right now, it is unknown whether or not Bill Burr is set to return to the Star Wars universe anytime soon, but he is holding out hope for his return, especially given his acclaimed turn in “Chapter 15: The Believer.”

Both Bill Burr and Gina Carano appear in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. Here is the synopsis for the series:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travels of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic….

The first two seasons starred Pedro Pascal, Nick Nolte, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Ming-Na Wen, Bill Burr, Timothy Olyphant, and Carl Weathers, with Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano ahead of her spin-off series. The series was created by Jon Favreau and executive produced by Dave Filoni, with season two episodes also directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Peyton Reed, Carl Weathers, and Robert Rodriguez.

The Mandalorian’s first two seasons are available to stream on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding Season 3, the future of Bill Burr as Mayfeld, and the other upcoming Star Wars shows, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
