Apart from her projects, Ranaut has often made news for her controversial comments. Recently, the Queen star commented on how the famous Avengers franchise is heavily inspired by Mahabharata.
In an interview with ETimes, Ranaut was asked if she’d choose the Indian mythological approach or the Hollywood style of essaying the role of a superhero. She said, “I would definitely adopt the Indian approach. I feel the West borrows from our mythology a lot. When I look at superheroes like Iron Man, I feel his armour can be related to Karna’s armour from Mahabharata. Thor wielding the hammer can be compared to Hanumanji and his gada (mace). I felt that The Avengers was also inspired by the Mahabharata.”
She added, “Their visual perspective is different, but the origins of these superhero stories are hugely inspired by our Vedas. They acknowledge this fact, too. Likewise, I would also want to do something original and why to be limited to a via inspiration from the West.”
Ranaut will next be seen in the spy thriller Dhaakad, which she herself has often compared to the James Bond films. She said in the same interview that she had always wanted to do an action movie inspired by the Tomb Raider and Kill Bill films. Earlier, speaking about the low points in her career and how she refused projects with many big names in the Bollywood industry, Ranaut had claimed, “I have had my own fair share of lower points when I refused a lot of male-centric films, you know, Khan-led films or Kumar-led films, all kinds of big hero films.”
