House of the Dragon follows the members of House Targaryen who ruled Westeros around 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Milly Alcock appears as the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen, the eldest child of King Viserys I Targaryen, while Emma D’Arcy plays the older version of the character.
While Game of Thrones introduced the first dragons to be born in hundreds of years in the “children” of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen, House of the Dragon will explore a time before dragons were extinguished from the world, when House Targaryen still rode the mighty beasts that appear on their house sigil.
Syrax is the personal mount of Rhaenyra Targaryen and one of twenty Targaryen dragons alive at the time of the series. Judging by the new poster, Syrax will be a truly formidable beast for Rhaenyra’s enemies to come up against. The poster also features an array of swords that seem to resemble a destroyed Iron Throne – perhaps a metaphor for the civil war that tears House Targaryen apart in House of the Dragon.
