‘Deadpool 3’ Writer Teases ‘Fish-Out-Of-Water’ Story

Deadpool 3 writer Rhett Reese shared some new details about the upcoming sequel from Marvel Studios.

Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon, with Marvel Studios taking the reigns of the franchise from Fox and developing a sequel. Shawn Levy will direct the film, with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning to pen the script.

Deadpool Kills the MCU

Since Deadpool was in Fox’s X-Men universe, it’s unclear exactly how he will crossover into the MCU. Of course, the multiverse is being explored in the MCU already, but so far, the two X-Men characters we’ve seen have not been from that universe.

Ryan Reynolds could also be playing a Deadpool variant, similar to what Marvel Studios is doing with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. More details on Marvel’s future are coming soon, according to Kevin Feige, but in the meantime, Rhett Reese teased the following on BroBible‘s Post-Credit Podcast about the sequel:

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for fish-out-of-water. Deadpool is a lunatic at the center of a movie. To drop a lunatic into a very sane world, it’s straight butter. It’s going to be really fun.”

Here is the synopsis for the previous film, Deadpool 2:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Directed by David Leitch from a script written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jack Kesy.

Deadpool 2 is available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the upcoming sequel, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content.
