Ranveer, Alia are the new Shah Rukh, Kajol: Karan Johar

Bollywood has often introduced the audience to some of the most iconic onscreen pairings to date. Be it Madhubala and Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Nargis, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha or our all-time favourites Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The reel-life duos have made us fall in love with them and hope for our very own fairytales thanks to their sizzling chemistry on the screen.

But we’ll be honest: it’s been a while since we’ve seen an onscreen pair that has managed to halt us in our tracks. However, filmmaker Karan Johar recently likened his upcoming stars, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, to Shah Rukh and Kajol of this era in a recent interview.

In a recent conversation with Rajeev Masand, Karan drew parallels between Ranveer and Alia and the Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge stars. Talking about how the Gully Boy co-stars are this era’s Shah Rukh and Kajol, Karan said, “When Ranveer and Alia face the camera, you will see that chemistry because they’re buddies, they’re friends. That friendship results in chemistry.”

Previously, reports from a leading news publication revealed that the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actors will have a small role in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. A source said, “Shah Rukh and Kajol might make a special appearance in Karan Johar’s directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani that features Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles.”

Besides Alia and Ranveer, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film holds a special place for everyone associated because this film marks the comeback of Karan as a director after a hiatus of many years!
