Warner Bros. Discovery CEO To Enact Ten-Year Plan For DC Films

Warner Bros Discover CEO David Zaslav will enact a ten-year plan for DC films molded after the Marvel Cinematic universe.

Over the past few days, fans have been critical of the direction Warner Bros. Discovery has been taking. Earlier this week the company shelved the planned Batgirl film despite it almost being complete. Apparently, this is all part of a much larger plan on the part of the DC film brand.

The CEO Reveals The Plan

During an earnings call, CEO David Zaslav revealed that there would be a team at the company focused solely on creating a ten-year plan for the DC Universe films:

“You look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, these are brands that are known everywhere in the world. And the ability to drive those all over the world with great story is a big opportunity for us. We have done a reset. We’ve restructured the business. We’re going to focus where there will be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC.”

He further compared the DC plan to what Disney did with the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“It’s very similar to the structure that Alan Horn and Bob Iger put together very effectively with Kevin Feige at Disney. We think that we could build a long-term, much stronger, sustainable growth business out of DC and as part of that, we’re gonna focus on quality.”

Here is the synopsis for the next DC Universe film, Black Adam:

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani, the DC film stars Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan.

Black Adam opens in theaters on October 21, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the DC Universe at Warner Bros. Discover and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
