Today marks the release of the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated film on Netflix that concludes the 2018 series. However, that won’t be the end of TMNT projects, with an animated film reboot slated for theaters next year.
The next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is being directed by The Mitchells vs. the Machines‘ Jeff Rowe from a script written by Brendan O’Brien. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weave are all on board as producers. With a year to go until the film hits theaters, it was revealed that the title would be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael are back to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.
Directed by David Green with a script from Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, the 2016 film stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Laura Linney, Stephen Amell, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Tyler Perry, Sheamus, Brian Tee, and Gary Anthony Williams.
