‘The Flash’ Set Photo Reveals Richard Harmon As New Captain Boomerang

Captain Boomerang is set to return to the Arrowverse in Season 9 of The Flash with The 100 star Richard Harmon taking over the role previously played by Nick E. Tarabay.

The Arrowverse’s version of Captain Boomerang made his debut in Arrow Season 3. The former Suicide Squad member has only had three previous Arrowverse appearances, all of which were in Arrow and the last of which ended in his death at the hands of Malcolm Merlyn.

Now it looks like the character is returning in The Flash, played by Richard Harmon. It is not yet clear if Harmon is playing a new character taking over from Digger Harkness as Captain Boomerang, or if he is a new version of Harkness created in the wake of Crisis on Infinite Earths.

A new photo from the set of the ninth and final season of The Flash shows Richard Harmon suited up as Captain Boomerang, donning a new costume inspired by his comic book look.

The upcoming conclusion to The Flash will see the Arrowverse itself brought to a close. The series marks the last remaining property set in the shared DC TV universe that was started by Arrow and which previously encompassed series such as Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow.

As well as the Arrowverse’s Nick E. Tarabay, the supervillain has been played by Jai Courtney on the big screen, though his version of Boomerang met his end in last year’s The Suicide Squad.

Here is a synopsis for the season eight finale of Grant Gustin’s The Flash:

“With The Flash still reeling from everything that just happened, the rest of the team rallies to support him when he needs it the most.”

The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, and Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton.
