The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Information technology and Telecommunication (ITT) is nervous about the growing number of complaints of cybercrime over the past three years.
On Wednesday, Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali led the committee meeting. FIA and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority briefed it on cybercrime, cyber security, and also social media rules (PTA).
The members of the NA committee are very nervous that the number of complaints about cybercrime will keep going up over the next three years. People complained about how long it took to file a complaint. How few people were available to address those concerns? How old the did suppose to use equipment need to learn more about the complaints. They did suggest that the relevant departments must also look at the way the work was going. They try to talk to each other better.
Members were especially worried about the harassment of lawmakers and their families. As bad propaganda and campaigns against politicians, journalists, and also institutions on social media. Members emphasized the need to put money into the FIA’s cybercrime division’s workers’ professional growth. The committee has asked the FIA to come up with ideas to make the cybercrime division work better and present them at the next meeting.
The committee has suggested that the federal government immediately hire permanent, qualified. Experienced people work in the Cyber Crime wing and also give this key national institution the resources it needs.
The Committee’s previous meeting minutes from September 5, 2022, became used it.
A lot of members of the National Assembly were there. Including Malik Sohail Khan, Ali Gohar Khan, Ayesha Rajab Ali, Romina Khursheed Alam, Maiza Hameed, Mahesh Kumar Malani, Naz Baloch, Shamim Ara Panhwar, Syed Mehmood Shah, Salahuddin, and Javairia Zafar Aheer.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority also sent high-ranking representatives to the conference. Which is also did attend by the secretary of the Ministry of Information technology and Telecommunication and other top officials (PTA).
