In the lawsuit, Cooper claims she was falsely portrayed as a racist, which led to her being illegally fired by New York investment house Franklin Templeton after the incident.  As previously reported, the woman accused Black birdwatcher Christian Cooper of threatening her after he told her to put her dog on a leash on May 25, 2020. Christian recorded and uploaded the entire encounter on social media after Amy called the police and said, ‘an African American man is threatening my life.’

On Wednesday, US District Judge Ronnie Abrams denied Cooper’s claim that her former employer defamed her after the company issued a tweet confirming her termination.

‘The contents of the viral video, as well as the dialogue surrounding it both in the media and on social media, were already matters of public knowledge,’ making the defendants’ statements ‘inactionable as pure opinion,‘ Abrams said in their statement.

Additionally, the judge said Cooper failed to prove she was fired in May 2020 due to her race and gender. Her lawyers didn’t respond to the loss. She was hired in 2015 by Franklin Templeton as an insurance portfolio manager. According to the Daily Mail, the incident between her and Christian Cooper occurred on the same day as the murder of George Floyd.

She was also charged in July 2020 with filing a false police report, but the charges were dropped several months later. The lawsuit also accused Christian Cooper of having an alleged history of harassing dog owners and claimed he was affecting their safety.

‘It was Christian Cooper’s practice and intent to cause dog owners to be fearful for their safety and the safety of their dogs, and he had a history of doing so to people,’

Social media reacts to the lawsuit and mocks Amy Cooper once again for her ‘Karen’ antics.

twitter held nothing back as Cooper continued to be criticized for her “Karen”-like ways after she lost the lawsuit against her former employer.
