The new CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, wants to bring back almost all banned accounts. This “amnesty” will start as soon as next week.
The announcement is the result of a Twitter poll in which Elon Musk did ask if did ban users is then use seems on the social media site. According to the survey’s results,
Should Musk, in general, bring back banned Twitter accounts that have not done anything illegal or sent out especially annoying spam?
More than 3 million people took part in the survey, and 72.4% of them became in favor of the change. Musk kept talking and said, “Amnesty starts next week.” The CEO of Twitter hasn’t done reply to our request for comment yet.
Experts say that bringing back banned accounts for things like violent threats, harassment, and spreading false information has a big effect on Twitter. Some has done questioned Musk’s strategy, especially since he hasn’t said what “egregious spam” is. Also, it’s hard to tell which ban users “did break the law” and which ones didn’t.

Alejandra Caraballo, a clinical lecturer at Harvard Law’s cyberlaw clinic, even did call it “opening the gates of hell.”
Musk’s actions affect the very existence of many weak groups. When you think about how much damage it will cause, it’s like throwing open the gates of hell. Those who do dox and other forms of direct harassment and bullying, as well as those who incite or celebrate violence, are free to do those things again at any time. You don’t realize how dangerous this is.
We won’t know how Twitter’s problem does fix until next week.
