PopWrapped Presents: MUST-HAVE VINYL RELEASES! Aqua Aquarium 25th Anniversary Vinyl Collection

Aqua’s seminal 1997 album, Aquarium, turned 25 in March of this year, and to celebrate, Universal Music has released a limited-edition 25th anniversary Vinyl re-release in hot pink, white, and traditional black. To date, Aquarium has sold over 14-million copies worldwide, and still holds many sales records around the world, including being the third best-selling album in Denmark, some 25-years later. On 4 March 1999, the album was certified Triple Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of three million units, becoming the most successful Eurodance album in the USA since Ace of Base’s The Sign, which was released in 1993.

To say that this anniversary release sounds good would be a massive understatement. It sounds shockingly good. It has been flawlessly remastered, on whisper quiet virgin vinyl. Astounding stereo separation brings these quarter-of-a-century old songs to new life. In addition, Universal has gone back to the original album assets, including never-before-seen photos to this special anniversary edition.

“With the release of our debut album, we had six major hit singles and experienced great success around the world,” Lene Nystrøm said of the album, describing it as the “ultimate Aqua moment.”

She added: “We wanted to make the best pop album in the world, and take Aqua to a new universe, a new sound, searching for the good tunes and lyrics that always has been Aqua’s trademark.

Aquarium 25th Anniversary edition includes the Global smash, Barbie Girl, as well as Doctor Jones, Roses Are Red, and Lollipop (Candyman) As an added treat, Universal Music has also included the rare, limited-edition, international bonus track, “Didn’t I,” on vinyl for the first time.
