Godsmack was scheduled to perform three shows in April in Chile, Brazil, and Argentina. Yet, the band recently announced on their official Twitter account that they had to cancel their South American tour in the spring due to low ticket sales.
The band’s latest album, ‘Lighting Up the Sky‘ hit the shelves on February 24. So, Godsmack unveiled the US dates and venues of its upcoming I Prevail tour to promote their new record weeks before their cancellation of the South American tour. They will be extensively touring the US in May.
Their shows in South America would originally take place last November. However, they later postponed them to April, as they had some logistical issues at the time. Judging from their recent announcement on their social media, it looks like the South American audience will not be able to see them perform anytime soon.
The Godsmack members wrote that they were really sad about not being able to make it up to their audience there as they had promised. Still, they couldn’t find a way to fund their tour as they really tried. The band apologized at the end of their post and hoped they would meet their fans there someday soon.
The Twitter post about the cancelation read:
“We are heartbroken to have to announce that Godsmack cannot get to South America in April as promised. We are so saddened by this as we’ve been trying for so long to make this work, but due to the lack of ticket sales, we simply can’t find a way to fund this tour at this time.
Please know we’ve tried everything we could to make it work, but it has now gone beyond our control. We love and appreciate our fans and will remain optimistic that we will play for your country one day. Until then, our deepest apologies.”
The spring US tour of Godsmack will kick off on May 4 in Denver, Colorado, and conclude on May 28 at Uncasville, Connecticut. Later on, the band is also scheduled to perform at Rock Fest 2023 on July 15, along with Papa Roach, 10 Years, Everclear, Plush, Dorothy, Highly Suspect, and Dayseeker.
