The second content update for Moonbreaker, Astra’s Story, is now live. It’s bringing a whole new map with more Cholek culture to discover, as well as more audio content in the form of a third Tales from the Reaches podcast episode and more.
Moonbreaker‘s new map is the Cholek Excavation Site, where you’ll find lots of stone statue heads made by the Cholek culture. It’s not clear what purpose the heads serve, and the gemstones that make up their eyes are similarly mysterious. What will you find in this new map? You’ll have to play to find out.
If you want something to keep you company while you play, then you’ll be pleased to know the third episode of the Moonbreaker: Tales from the Reaches podcast has also been released. This isn’t just a behind-the-scenes look at the game; it’s a fully-fledged audio drama that delves further into the World and characters of the game. If you’re a Brandon Sanderson fan, it’s definitely one to check out.
It wouldn’t be an update without some quality-of-life improvements, and Astra’s Story is bringing those too. You can now share paint jobs with other players, and new tutorials have been added for newcomers. Creating Rosters is easier now thanks to a new button, too, so you should find the gameplay experience a bit smoother. Combined with balance changes and fixes, these new additions should make Moonbreaker even more fun.
Moonbreaker was unveiled at Gamescom this year as the latest IP from Subnautica creator Unknown Worlds. Unlike Subnautica, Moonbreaker is a turn-based strategy game inspired by tabletop miniature gaming. It was released in Early Access in September and swiftly updated to remove its microtransactions after fan outcry.
Don’t worry; nothing in the new update reinstates microtransactions or anything of that nature. You can check out the full announcement on Steam for confirmation of that. If you’re yet to check out Moonbreaker, it’s available right now via Steam Early Access, where it’ll cost you $29.99.
